No wonder this place is always empty... Deceptive, birdbrained, and frankly they are just not up to par to what they're convinced they're worth.. I live closeby and am within delivery range so I feel like trying this place out because the online ordering is so convenient. Plus, I like trying new restaurants in my area and I love food (Hence the Badge). I check their menu and see the honey shrimp along with the bacon dates. As soon as I saw the shrimp was $7.00 EACH, I said no way. However, the dates had three dates pictured and most importantly was listed as "dates" not "date" which totaled up to $3.95 per order. I asked for three orders & clicked submit on my eat24 app. An hour later, three measly little bites were delivered and I asked the guy where the rest was. Nope, there was no more! That was all! I literally got so upset and called the restaurant sounding like a second grade teacher when I'm explaining the definition of singular and plural. The incoherent Nabil wouldn't understand and told me "he doesn't deal with threats" when I demanded a refund! Obviously I called eat24 and they agreed with me. They also agreed that is was confusing, deceptive and that menu was sure to go under managerial supervision to ensure they fix the menu. For a busy young professional like me, eating out is in the cards for me. It's sad to see how a restaurant couldn't refund my small order because of pride or whatever overpriced items they sell there. I probably would've gone back. Now? Hell NO FYI, I walked in your place last Saturday 10 minutes before you opened and saw the dungeon that it really was. Old, smelly and looks infested with termites due to the overdone amount of wood you have in there. It's like a bad dream you can't wake up from. All the yelp deals and check-in offers in the world can't help you. Can't wait till you close down and someone else deserving takes your spot... Maybe then, I'll shoot over for some dinner. Until then..

The experience was unique; it would not be fair to judge this place by just one visit. I did post on their FB page how grateful We were for the experience they offered. It was awesome by definitely not five stars -not for 400 dollars and plus, tip included. However, i STRONGLY recommend ROUGE for Miami standards.

This is one of the best French restaurants I have ever been in Miami! There are a couple good ones but this one and La Gloutonnerie are my favorite ones!!!

The most un accommodating place I have ever been to. Place was dead, we were the 2nd table there and I thought they would have been a little more helpful but nope. The only sides they served is kouskous which I don't eat although they had veggies and potatoes on some dishes. All the pictures are wrong as they change their menu every 3 weeks. Also the free champagne is a lie, they said 6 people only. Also there was a huge rat in the outside area. I am sure the food overall maybe good if you bend to their ways but we left after paying $10 for the water. This was our anniversary and my wife was dieing for moroccan food but she was very hurt to not have anything she wanted. We ended up at Georges which was great!

Great place with great service and great food. I believe the couple that took care of our table were the owners. I had lunch with my girl friend and we staid for longer then expected, it was not busy at all so we were not rushed to give up the table. A little pricey for a lunch experience, not a place for 'everyday lunch' our bill came to $190,00 including tip, that is the reason I'm taking one star. I arrived earlier and started with 2 glasses of sparkling wine, then we had a very nice table outside, by the way is a super nice set up, we ordered the Kefta and the Steak Tartare, they were both very well seasoned with great flavor, then we order a bottle of Malbac and the Lamb in port sauce for entree, I'm glad we only ordered one cause is huge! We both were super satisfied and could not finished the dish, that is how big it was :) off course we were also saving space for desert, we wanted to order Creme Brûlée but that specific day they had a little issue with it and I'm glad the lady told us instead of just bringing it up and taking the risk of us not being happy with, so we ended up having the Tiramissu another two glasses of wine and finishing up with two expressos. The place is perfect for a date and I want to try another day at night time.

What a great find! My husband and I came here while on vacation finding the restaurant through yelp. It was a quick uber from our hotel on the beach and we were pleasantly surprised to be led into a lush little courtyard for dining. The wine list was very reasonable and our server helped us pick a great French red to start the meal. Then, the owner came to our rescue when he could see we were struggling a bit with what to order from the Moroccan/French menu. The love the owner had for his dishes was evident. He steered us toward the lamb soup, which came with a personal story and specific instructions for maximum appreciation of the dish. He did not lead us astray! It was wonderful and we loved the personal attention he showed throughout the night. I can't wait to come back next time I'm in the city and I would recommend this spot to anyone!

Went to Rouge and was pleasantly surprised with a new menu, it was really hard to make a decision because everything sounds delicious! I took the recommendations of the owner and was not disappointed. He suggested the Gorgonzola soufflé and the wild boar stuffed squid as an appetizer...Amazing!!!! As for the main course we had the rabbit in white wine with mushrooms and potatoes and the scallops with leek fondue, both dishes were prepared to perfection. I can't wait to go back to try the rest of the menu. Thanks Rouge!!!!

The starters are excellent and I had high hopes for the entree - slightly disappointing as the flavors were very subdued . They end the meal on a high note with nice desserts - it seems as if the kitchen is run by two separate chefs and the one handling main entrees is a sous not head chef. They also lack cohesion and the combinations are not complimentary. For a combination type restaurant I can't really define a stylistic theme. The Moroccan food appears to be better served here than the french influence. I think it should be classified as a morroccan restaurant with dishes using french techniques .The ambience is excellent with a great pianist and fresh air, nice decor. The service is generally just the level I have come to expect in miami- rude when I walked in, no valet, and very limited. I had an issue with lack of tablecloths or covering, and they didn't bring splenda or anything for my hot tea despite the fact I asked 3 times. They didn't bring clean silverware between courses and the wait before and between was very ridiculous . Don't expect them to give you an accurate estimation. It took 30min to get the first course and 45min between the entree and dessert despite assurances it would be 15. I guess they don't expect to satisfy and don't even try when it comes to service - they tip themselves an automatic 18%gratuity to ensure it doesn't matter. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant and there was constant motion and waiters around, so it wasn't for lack of acknowledgement that the servers didn't deliver . I wouldn't go back. For the price (which is inflated Miami style at about 10-15% over value) it isn't really worth it , and I would skip the hassle of finding parking .

For some reason this place kept popping up on Open Table as best restaurant- and I never believed it. I thought they paid for appearing on the top of the list all the time. So when my husband planned a dinner date at "the best french restaurant" I went along with it out of curiosity. Now we go to Katana next door all the time and I've seen this place. It never called my attention from the outside. I always thought it was empty. But when we walked in, I was very pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was very nice and different- a warm and welcoming feel that you only get from small restaurants where the owners take care of you. The wine list was very good and the menu was exciting. I had the goat tagine with cous cous just to try something different, which I really liked. The wine recommendation was also very nice. The chocolate Nutella souflee and vanilla creme brûlée were delicious. But most of all, even better than the food was how nice the owner was and how well they took care of us. That made all the difference. At the end we realized that there was a beautiful gem of a garden in the back and finished our wine there. It was a special, romantic evening thanks to the experience we had at Rouge.

A-am-zing! I was first attracted to this place online. But being there surpassed all expectations. The food was exquisite. The Moroccan flavor and spices with the textures and technique of French cooking. It could not have worked better together. The atmosphere was wonderful and the garden is breathtaking. Even the music was perfect for a lovely meal. I highly recommend the bacon wrapped chorizo dates, cheese soufflé and chocolate mousse. But really everything we ordered was good. And finally, the owner and employees...they were so friendly and attentive. It was a real joy being there. Can't wait to go back!!

Food. Ambiance. Decor I went to Rouge for my best friend's Bday on a week night. No one was there we were litterally the only table. We sat in the garden (old parking area re-designed to perfection into an oriental backyard by the owner, looks like it has been there forever) and enjoyed the perfect design and private ambiance. Lovely. We ordered almost everything that contains no meat on the menu. Portions were satisfying, tasty and well presented by a sweet server. The warm bread and olive oil to start with is just amazing. Order the Olives as an aperitif with one of their cocktails... Yummy ! My fave was the risotto... I just have a thing for mushy creamyness ;-) Experience : 7/10 Xoxo Clem bonjourclem.com @BonjourClem

This is a little hidden gem in Miami Beach. I just can't have enough of it. From the old movies being projected, to the piano and live music on Fridays and Saturdays to the stunning garden outside... and to top it off the food is amazing. It truly is my favorite place to go to.

Rouge is in my top 3 most delicious restaurants and romantic bistro in Miami. I love to discover new places to dine. I've heard about Rouge from some neighbors, so my friends and I decided to give it a try. Not much to look at from the outside, but the moment you enter you are immediately transported to a warm and charming dining area that makes you smile. A beautiful piano graces the entrance (they have a piano player on Fridays and Saturdays), a wooden bar to the side complements the rest of the interior with well-spaced tables and a projector showing old movies complete the calming ambiance. Our hostess asked us if we'd like to eat inside or out, so we took the chance and choose the outdoor area, an unexpected surprise. A lovely yard with a fireplace, walls covered with vines and twinkling lights that give an incredible intimate feeling. The food was out of this world. French Moroccan Cuisine, I swear that you can just taste the love and pride of the chef pouring in each plate that arrived at our table. We started with the hudson river valley" foie gras poele seared foie gras and passion fruit reduction (amazing) followed by bacon wrapped medjool dates stuffed with spicy spanish chorizo (OMG!) The main dishes arrived and we took our first bites. Between Woo's! and Wow's, we managed to repeat over and over again how delicious everything was. The salade de gesiers confit et oeuf de caille gizzards confit and quail eggs composed salad served with a balsamic vinaigrette was fresh and crisp. I tried the traditional Moroccan quail stuffed with lamb sausage, couscous and raisins, the favors were just mouthwatering. My friend had the filet mignon au gratin de pommes de terre douces, grilled tenderloin served with sweet potato gratin, the filet was like cutting butter. For dessert we split a soufflé de chocolat et nutella, warm and tasty, the perfect end to a perfect meal. There are many good restaurants in Miami, but if you would like to find a true hidden gem this is a must visit. The prices are not low, around $30 to $40 per entree, I tough it was totally worth it. Parking can be a challenge in that area so make sure you don't mind walking a few blocks or taking a taxi.

HELLO!!!!!!!!! This one is a hidden French-Moroccan gem in North Miami Beach. 4.5 stars if I could. They have indoor and outdoor seating. During the colder months, we are so going to sit outside. It is gorgeous out there. It's such a well thought out patio area full of flowers and urns and... just perfect. I can't wait. This time, however, we sat inside. A simple dining area with a large bar and pretty well spread out tables. The server came with the menu and uncorked our wine (corkage fee of $20). We got started with the Creamy Pumpkin Bisque. Yes! The Bacon Wrapped Dates? Yes!! The Black Truffle Risotto with a Parmesan Crust? Yes!!! The Harira, which is a Moroccan lamb stew? YES!!! So good... For desserts we really didn't love the chocolate mouse or crème brulee but they were ok. This place is just perfect. I'm looking forward to returning. The only recommendation I would give them at this time it to improve their wine glasses. They were kinda thick and not really what I am used to drinking my Cabernet in.

Nice interior, friendly service, especially the Russian lady was very helpful. The food is highly overpriced for the quality presented. Dishes from appetizer to dessert tasted just ok, some dishes were overly salted , desserts a disappointment as well.

My dining experience was fabulous! The service was impeccable. .. Both from Alina and Nabil. As soon as I walked out to the terrace I knew I was in for a treat. The ambience was romantic and super relaxed. I enjoyed the jazz/blues music playing as I sipped my wine before and after dinner. Not being very familiar with the cuisine I was open to the suggestions and tried the foie gras followed by the boeuf braise and ending the night with a wonderful chocolate soufflé! Nabil paired my meal with an incredible red wine. .. it complimented everything I ate so perfectly! My taste buds are still dancing.

Decided to come to this restaurant based upon the yelp reviews. I have to agree with the yelpers, this place has charm. You should definitely sit outside in the garden behind the restaurant. We enjoyed all the food - especially the dishes that included flavors of Moroccan spices. The owner (our server) is very friendly and was happy to chat with us about his restaurant. If you're looking for a quaint quiet restaurant with good food and good service, check this place out.

MUST GO! I was apprehensive looking at the menu because I know nothing about this type of food. I took a shot and it was GREAT! I had Boeuf Braise wine braised chuck roast served with wild mushroom risotto, loved it!!! I poo-poo a lot of places but loved Rouge! Portions GOOD size We were a party so we tasted each other's dishes and everything was divine we left soooo full. The ambiance is painstakingly "anywhere in the world." The decor is fabulous. Service was excellent. I will return.

Stay away, this is my Favorite Date Spot (Ok I have only taken a friend but still..some lucky Lady will get this) First off Ambience..wait..scratch that...Food, Spices, Presentation, all in a Courtyard that reminds me of my Italian Heritage and trips to Venice... Rare does Foodie meet Presentation meet Ambience. Me, the Lamb Shank surved in authentic Morrocan Dish..Her, Fresh Fish with peppers in Parchment paper (So sad watching our amazing Waiter unwrap that for her with all that steam coming out. The fish by the way was so delicate, light and herbal. But it was on both counts 'Spices' Hey you could just smell the Aroma as you walk into what is mostly a very appointed Venue and ask the Sweet Russian Greeter where everyone is (I thought the place was dead empty. She asked if I had a reservation and I laugh 'No one is here' but no, she walks us to the back...and Wa-La the Magic of the night. At first you think the tiny table will never work, but it does. Great Wine Selections, Perfect Mood lighting and one of the most unique Venues I have found yet. Why not 5 stars.. I went last week to take a group of friends on a Sunday there at 5pm, and they were not open. I joke but hey, in my book 5 stars! Great Date Place

The food is fantastic and matched with the impeccable service. The owner personally took care of our table, which was located in the intimate and rustic garden area (request for an outside table, trust me). We went for our anniversary and had no complaints. Everything we ordered, even the dishes that you may find in other restaurants, was delicious and tasted very unique. I give this fine establishment two thumbs up

Seriously terrible. Idk what non-foodie morons are giving this place 4 or 5 stars. Anyone that knows food knows that this place is crap. I went here for valentines where unannounced they forced you to order their pre-fixe menu (FOR FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS). Another couple was also surprised after they were told this after their wine. They were super polite, offered to pay for wine with a big tip but the INCREDIBLY DOUCHEY owner came out and said he would bill them for the full dinner and threatened to call the police (this couple was an extremely well dressed older couple in their 50s). We ended up staying and let's just say i've never felt more robbed of $400. The food that came out was clearly made, frozen and re-heated at this meal. Crap food, even crappier service, and super douchey owner that truthfully robbed me of my patience and appetite. in my opinion: DO NOT EAT HERE.

The place itself is cozy and I believe Yelpers would love this set up.... Specially the back outdoor garden ... I ask for a Cab Sauv and get an ok wine..... Asked for a Filet Mignon ( medium ) and I got a rare one, which it was all right since I don't mind rare term...... The chocolate Nutella mousse it was phenomenal..... Got a cram boule as a birthday complimentary which it was cold .... I hope if I get back I can have a little bit better of service and food.

Great ambiance, amazing decor, the risotto was great and the Steak with Frites was also good, the only thing is that is very much expensive in comparison to the amount of the food, it was very little, I paid $140 and at the end I was a little hungry, but the overall experience was good, very nice people and all good overall, they should increase a little their food portions...

OK, they did cancel the OpenTable reservations on Valentine's Day. Got it. Nabil called and explained why. Absolutely no problem. He even shared with me that I may not want to visit on Valentine's Day for my first visit due to the fixed menu. I absolutely should have listened. I think the fixed menu confused the kitchen more than it helped them. The courses were very unevenly spaced, but I'll chalk that one up to this being an extremely busy night for a tiny restaurant. Two of the tables near us were each served the same entree twice ("No, we've already had that one...") and our server skipped one of the entrees and brought us dessert. That's three separate tables that a were served incorrectly on a set menu. That is absolutely unacceptable with a fixed menu at this price-point. On the plus side, Nabil is a wonderful host and the outside garden is absolutely stunning. The ceviche and risotto were possibly as good as it gets. Again, Valentine's Day probably wasn't the night to experience Rouge as I would like to have tried several of their menu items. However the inconsistencies with their service has my better half saying "never again." To others who read this, I'd recommend trying on a slower night.

We ordered the following... A bottle of Les Jamelles Malbec Fish Soup - tasty and had a little kick to it Salad Maison - yummy balsamic dressing (love salad served in a whole romaine lettuce leaf) Branzino Ranzino en papillote - the fish was light and full of Moroccan flavor Duck Magret- my boyfriend had no complaints he enjoyed the flavor and it was cooked to his liking Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee & a small glass of porte wine The only downfall for me was that I did not feel very welcomed, although there were only 3 other tables in the entire restaurant.

Amazing! Authentic French in every way from the staff, to the atmosphere, to the food. This place is gorgeous, cozy, inviting. The back deck of beautiful. Inside is so cozy and inviting. The food is delicious. The night I went, my steak was over-cooked so I'm subtracting one star for only that reason. The staff was friendly and attentively, the French onion soup was prepared exactly the way French onion soup should be prepared, sweet, not salty. Perfect creme brûlée. Nice wine list. It's hard to find an authentic French restaurant experience on Miami Beach but this one is it!

I can't say enough good things about Rouge. Each visit is a treat! I wish we lived around the corner and could walk here every night. We went for Valentines day. Amazing food even though it was a set menu. The ceviche was delicate and wonderful. The risotto course was savory and cheesy and just enough al dente bite. The main course was one of the most elegant presentations of a pasta-based dish. The large pasta sheets were layered over the top of the savory meat and mushroom like a crust cover. You cut it up and mixed in the wonderfully warm meat underneath. Wow! Their outdoor patio is über romantic, with nice gardens and one of the few working fireplaces, and they were very kind and gracious to us, despite the fact that we were late after slogging 2.5 hours down from Palm Beach County in the worst Valentine's Day traffic I've ever seen, and had to spend another 10 minutes letting our GPS get over the you-can't-get there from here apoplexy. We have to go back to try the regular menu. This is a hidden gem of a place! You MUST go!

their price fixed valentines was way overpriced. with one of their most reasonable bottles of wine and tip our bill was $450 for two. the leek soup was dull, rissoto too heavy for my taste. the fois gras was phenomenal as was the dessert. the maitredee started fighting with a customer in the middle of the tiny restaurant because they didn't know it was a price fixed menu that night. it was totally rude and unprofessional of them. they should have just refunded the people their 200 cancellation charge and let them leave of they weren't interested in the menu instead of arguing in front of customers. it made me very uncomfortable during my dinner. the entree was good. all-in-all, not worth the $450 price tag.

Sad to say I didn't get a chance to explore Rouge during this vacation, but I did manage to get in a delivery order to enjoy for lunch before I head out the airport. Order came almost 30 min early, which was great because it was already well passed my usual lunch time. Delivery man was also very cheery and polite. Bonus points for that! I ordered the grouper and lobster soup and the black truffle risotto. I must say I was a bit disappointed when I first pulled my order out of the bag. For the price you pay for a gourmet lunch, I guess I was expecting a little more. Also, the soup was just a broth and I had hoped to have some sustenance with pieces of grouper or lobster in it. Where my order lacked in presentation, it definitely made up for it in taste! This is really quality cooking and I appreciate being able to have delivery options that are more interesting than a pizza! The Good: Taste for both dishes was spot on! I'll consider this a sneak preview with a reason to check out the restaurant for the full experience. The Bad: I'll probably be hungry again in an hour, but this was a pleasant little lunch. The Not-So-Pretty: A neighborhood restaurant that I just didn't get a chance to enjoy yet! Why do I live in Chicago? For delivery, this wasn't too bad. However, I think a main component for enjoying a meal from Rouge is sitting on (what looks like from the photos) their beautiful patio!

I never fail to be wowed by Nabil's prowess in the kitchen - each dish that emerges from the kitchen is IMHO a work of culinary art and does my belly proud!! Oh and did I mention there's a scrumptious cheese dish - named after me?!! Woo hoo - this is indeed as good as it gets! The weather is in that cooler mode which bodes a visit to the outdoor patio and a cozy seat by the fireplace!

Rouge is a Moroccan /French restaurant, that can be very good at times. it has a fantastic courtyard for dinning and parties in back. but beware if they are using the outdoor fire place, the smoke can back up. the owners are extremely friendly and helpful, which is part of the charm. as for the food, the mint tea and duck sausage are fantastic. the Tangine also, but the chicken in the Tangine, can be a tad overcooked at times. overall it is a pleasant dinning experience.

A fun French North African restaurant for sure... I was at north Beach and Rouge was convenient although the parking is a little tricky. The owner was very hospitable. We chatted about the menu and they had a lamb tagine that day. He sussed out that I like lamb so he said that actually it is a lamb shank which I ordered immediately. The French braised lamb shank and the north African lamb shank variations are all very good, so I was really curious. The lettuce heart salad came first with the hot crusty bread. Excellent start, with a wonderful vinaigrette dressing tuned to my taste! The lamb came with a huge porcelain chimney cover. It has been years since I saw that kind of presentation in an Algerian restaurant. It is a small shank but well cooked for a long time and very tender. You could tell the wine sauce. But I've never seen large peas in the sauce before, makes it a little heavy, perhaps that is Moroccan style. Nevertheless the lamb makes it a decent dish and some peas never hurt anyone. I was drinking beer and that was a perfect match. I ordered tarte for dessert and that was excellent, they got the apples and pastry just right. The pastry is different from the normal flaky kind, but still very very light. Oh they make a serious effort in presenting their foods, see pictures (so annoying I never remember that Yelp picture order is reverse of how you upload them). It wasn't very busy that night, but with the Mediterranean jazz playing and a full house under certain lighting conditions in this large room, I can visualize a very pleasant evening with very good interesting food.

This location has seen several fine French bistro-style restaurants. Formerly Lemon Twist, Rouge is a fine, casual local restaurant serving nicely prepared flavorful fare. The duck and fig sausage with carmelized onions as an appetizer is a must..followed by beet salad and fish prepared in parchment...yes, it's all good. Dessert apple tart was ok. Service was good. Next time, weather permitting, we'll sit outside in the patio in the back. Intimate and casual. Recommended. Recently returned to this restaurant and sat outside in their beautifully decorated, somewhat romantic patio. Food was good although my lamb shank was a bit tough. Interestingly prepared and delicious beet salad; fish entree delicious. Recommended but do sit outside and stick with specials. Owner is a very pleasant and interesting fellow who enjoys his craft. Free parking in public lot in rear or along street.

Nabil, the owner, greeted us warmly and patiently explained the nuances of the menu offerings. The food was complex and delightful. The ambiance is comfortably chic. Nabil & his team were very attentive and generous with complimentary after-dinner wine. Our party of six had a lot of fun interacting with them. We had wonderful experience and intend to return soon.

I had high expectations for this place but ended up a little disappointed. I had made reservations for our anniversary and requested a table outside. When we got there the only person from the staff we could see sat us at a table inside next to the bar. When I complained she immediately found a table for us outside but said we would have to wait till it was cleaned, another 15 minutes. During this time we found out that some of the staff had called out and she was pretty much it. We tried to be understanding throughout the night because we could see she was running around going crazy but unfortunately it did take away from our night. Everything came with a very long wait, very very long wait. The food was pretty good, nothing to brag about. The outside patio was however beautiful. I want to go back and give it another shot, maybe they can leave a better impression the second time around.

We just arrived in Miami for layover for the night. Found Rouge amongst many fabulous restaurants in Miami Beach,...it did not disappoint. Great ambience- Nabil and Lina played terrific hosts. This is a French Moroccan restaurant where the flavors are truly unique. Trying the authentic peppermint tea makes it a wonderful way to complete a meal. The menu has a variety of food types and tastes. In Miami, it is rare that you find a restaurant that presents a meal where the flavors are deliciously unique and the portions are ample. Excellent value for your money!

This is a true diamond in the rough. Based on the look of the surrounding shops, I didn't expect Rouge to look like much on the inside but you will be truly amazed by how beautiful and romantic the restaurat's garden area is (and the inside is area was striking as well). Brick fireplace, bright mosaic tables, wandering vines, perfect music...I could go on and on. But this place isn't just beautiful, the food and service were top notch. I tried French onion soup, beet salad, bacon-wrapped dates and the boeuf braise. All were great. The beef was enough for three people probably! It isn't a cheap date, but it's certainly worth every penny we spent for such a wonderful evening at a beautiful restaurant with excellent and very friendly service.

Food: I ordered the Rack of Lamb, medium rare. I know certain chefs and restaurants have diff opinions, so I specifically asked our waiter if it was going to be red inside? His response :"oh yes yes". It came out completely cooked, not even slightly pink.....still edible, but not to my liking. So if you like lamb, red / pink inside, you might have to ask for rare instead. For dessert, I tried the chocolate souffle and creme brulee. Both was good! Their water glass was cute and unique. They charge you $7 per bottle. Not sure if tap water is available since our waiter never gave us an option. If you come w a party of six or more, you can check in and get a free champagne bottle, per table. They will charge you more if they run out. So just keep that in mind because although my party told the waiter we only wanted one bottle, he ended up opening another one with out telling us. It would have been nice if he informed us, "I apologize, one bottle is not enough for X #s of people, would you like another bottle?" Service Waiter never checked up on us to see how our food taste. That pretty much sums it up. Can't say much since he was never around...

Horrible. Waiter automatically brought us water and charged us $21 dollars ($7each) for tap water. He never asked or mentioned to us. Also yelp check in says one free champagne but when the waiter missed to pour one of our friends glass, he comes back with a second bottle and charged us $15 for that glass without telling us. Service was okay but I felt like they knew they were going to be tipped anyways so didn't bother to fulling service us. Ambiance was nice overall but hidden charges is a BIG NO NO! Especially when we confronted him and he acted like we should've known about the charges....

Adding onto Mimi and Loany's review, we are in no way cheap people. We would've been fine if we were TOLD about the charges so that we can agree or disagree to the addition. This is only happening because we just felt cheated and taken advantage of. The reply from the owner to Mimi's comment was unnecessary and rude. So yes, maybe after his comment, I iguess we should gotten a comped meal after what was suppose to be a great bachelorette weekend turned sour from ONE restaurant. If you want quality service, go somewhere else. *update* Did you not see on Mimi's comment that we were NOT asked if we wanted to order bottled water or have tap water? You, Nabil, are an ignorant idiot. And your comments sound so rude and ridiculous. Don't try to change your comments because I have screenshotted everything you've said and I'm sure you know everyone looks at pictures before they read comments. Seems as if we were raised at a better time period that you were it's okay, I'll be the bigger person and leave it here as is (just as you said in your comment before you changed it and went on another rant). Have a lovely day and I hope your restaurant stays open for years to come!

This carefully tucked away oasis has a surprising open aired courtyard for effect. We ordered a lasagna and a lamb-risotto that melted into our mouths. Chet and Edith took turns crooning over chilled Rosés. Perfect evening.

I'm basing this review on ambience only because I didn't try the food. I stumbled across this place and wandered in to check it out. I'm not sure how the owners managed to capture the spirit of a French Moroccon restaurant in Paris but they did. Intantly charming once you arrived, the place sparks the flame of romance. The first sense of intimacy and coziness gives a warmth that puts you at ease. A vintage piano in the corner gives the place a jazz lounge feel. An ideal place for couples seeking a romantic night out. I only wish it had more parking available. With two city lots nearby, parking is free after 6pm. The price range is about $15-$35 a plate and they have live music Friday and Saturday evenings. The best part? A quaint patio hidden away like a small garden with a fireplace. I recommend it for a special night out. I'm eager to return and try the food.

Main entrees were nothing great. Pretty blend. I expected more for the high price. Went on a Sunday and it was pretty empty. The host/bartender wasn't very welcoming and didn't have a good attitude. Like he didn't want to be there on a Sunday night. He screwed up our order a few times too. Dessert was delicious though and the patio was very romantic.

Brought my family here for my father in laws birthday a party of 8. It was Amazing!!! very cozy, the appetizers were awesome.I suggest the bacon shrimp, the fois gras was some of the best I have had in south Florida, and the escargot was perfection :) We tried most of the entrees and all equally delicious (still wish I had tried the venison) Service was great and super friendly atmosphere. I can't recommend enough! make sure you have a Stella at the bar ;)

Literally a hidden gem! You might miss Rouge if you aren't on the lookout for the sign with the red letters on the grey facade. You might think it might be unimpressive, but you couldn't be more wrong, the minute you walk through that door, you will see the cozy decor. Perfect color contrasts thanks to the touches of red against the tan brick wall backdrop, modern red chairs, and classic movie posters dominate the space. A nicely decorated bar area calls you back to another area with its vintage paint job. I am not sure if the owner decorated the space or if they brought in an interior designer (good job, regardless!), but I really liked the concept, the mix of colors, cool, chill yet romantic vibe, cozy couches with cushions in the corner mixed with the tribal masks on the wall and the zebra prints, and Louis Armstrong coming from the speakers. I must say, that was a welcome touch, considering most restaurants in Miami play thumping music, top 40 hits and other nauseating music that makes me want to run away after consuming my meal. Great taste in music. I felt like I was in a bistro somewhere in Europe, and I am sure the vibe is even sexier and more romantic at night. My friend and I looked over the menu and wanted something exotic, a Moroccan staple. I decided I'd get the Tagine de Poussin, and my friend got the Braised Lamb Shank. Tagines are basically Moroccan stews. This one was supposed to be a cornish hen stew. The cornish hens I have seen are on the small side, about the size of a fist, so I wasn't expecting a lot of food. We got complimentary bread and butter and admired the decor, including a cool bull made out of nuts and bolts in the bar area. We also noticed Charlie Chaplin playing on a background wall. The braised lamb shank arrived, and it had a great color. The question was, how would the flavor be? It came in a concentrated port wine reduction and it tasted great. It was tender, and a decent amount of food. It came with a piece of cheese, which at first we could not figure out what it was, but it had a nice sharp flavor, not too overwhelming (I cannot remember the cheese's name and menu searches to find out the cheese's name were unsuccessful). My cornish hen was HUGE, wow! Not what I expected at all! It was the size of a rotisserie chicken. Suffice to say, I could not finish it all. It had raisins, fresh chopped carrots (you can tell these didn't come out of a frozen veggie bag by the way they were cut), and came with a side of couscous. The cornish hen was tender and flavorful. While at first glance you may think the prices are a bit high, once you see the amount of food and the quality of the food, you will see the prices aren't unreasonable. I had enough for a second meal! I'd love to try their desserts. Next time, I guess! We met the owner and conversed some. I had noticed while we were eating that there seemed to be some outdoor seating. I figured it was probably very bareboned, considering the inside was rather fancy. Boy, I could not have been more wrong! The patio was just gorgeous (sorry I didn't take pictures, I was talking to the owner and it would have been rude to ignore him and take pictures, but there are great pictures here that showcase its beauty). I love Moroccan furniture, lanterns, and fountains, and even have some Moroccan decor in my own home, so I could not have been more pleasantly surprised when I saw this beautiful, colorful garden. It felt like I was at a Moroccan friend's backyard. The fountains, mosaic tables, grapevines providing shade on the patio roof, everything was perfect. And to top it off, a romantic, beautiful fireplace. I told my friend I had always dreamed of having a backyard decorated like this and if I ever buy a home with a backyard, I now have my inspiration for decor. Then the owner opened the wooden door that led to the back parking lot and suddenly, we were transported back from this magical garden to a hidden lot in the back. I could see the garden, the owner's pride and joy, being a very popular place to bring a date, have a drink by the fireplace, lounge, and kiss with the jazz music and stars in the background. Okayy...enough with the daydreaming of romance and back to reality! As you can see, I definitely recommend this place, and even more, the garden, if you have a date. Great food, great music, and a great ambiance will make it a memorable experience.

Had a reservation at Rouge for 10 pm, unfortunately we made it at 10:15 which is right when their kitchen closes but they still sat us down and took good care of us. We weren't disappointed at all. We are from Morocco and we were all craving Moroccan food and we hit the jack pot coming to Rouge. Service was great and atmosphere is to die for - cozy, romantic and warm. If by any chance you get to sit outside in the little garden, definitely do so bc it is BEAUTIFUL & Food was incredible! C'etait un Dinner parfait. Merci beaucoups.

My girlfriend and I had a hankering for good, quality healthy food and Yelp-ed Rouge and we were so happy with the service, ambiance and most especially our meal. We had bacon wrapped shrimp and figs, the courgette/mint soup and beet targine salad. After the meal we chatted with the owner about life and love, and ended up in the back garden with a couple of glasses of complimentary port. Also, the owner saved my dumb ass from losing my credit card as he made a special effort to return it to me before I left the country--How awesome is that?! 5/5 stars, and +1 for friendly hospitality!

Overprice and nothing special ! They charged 20% tip,I meant not 18%,but you HAVE to pay 20% even if it's a BAD service! We usually give 18,20,25% tip but being obligated to pay 20% in North Bay Village??C'mon...This is NOT South Beach! Look at your bill, they won't put the total BUT will charge the 20% and give you a subtotal of a different amount ! I have a business and know how it runs, but this is total UNACCEPTABLE!!!! When we made a funny comment about the obligated 20% ,the owner was rude and told us he doesn't need anymore businesses, because he has enough and will charge 20%or as much as he wants to because of the tourists, and also adds that he is okay with the business he has now and doesn't need anymore customers! Hello? Well... He is all over Groupon! Right ;) Believe me ...we are used to nice restaurants and I do appreciate local businesses. However, we had a horrible experience and he was okay if we never come back not showing ANY appreciation for us being there supporting his business. Let's talk about the "live music" they suggest, it's all over their website. Well... Today they had radio music playing! It's FRIDAY night and he tells us the musician had arrangements! Ah? Don't Promise something you can't delivery. Now about the food... He offered a bone marrow as an appetizer, wow! Fat in a bone with 2 toasts. I love France and their cuisine. I've been in France twice and very open about trying different dishes, however this was a joke! Try and you will see... Did I mentioned it's overpriced? I was already done and ready to go to another place, however my husband wanted to try the lamb with mushroom risotto. I will give a 8! It was a great piece of lamb and tasted mushroom risotto. I also ordered the Marrocon olives as we had a bottle of wine...SALTY! I like spices and I guess I am okay with salt BUT wow!! Left half of the olives there... Honestly, it was a great atmosphere but need a lot of attention. We will never come back and wish everyone the best. That place is not something to recommend to...They are dishonest and greedy! **Thank you for the reply! My husband will get the IPad in the morning. :) Like I said, this is my experience and want to tell the customers (like me) that loves to try different local spots, that you don't care about new customers because you have enough business, like you said to us! We are from Bal Barbour ...just 5 minutes away and will never come back bc of the experience! * I just checked some of Rouge reviews, should've looked before come in. Everybody says the same thing, overpriced and dishonest. Check the owners comments about every bad review... Rude! *No Hun, that is a lie!! We had a $40 groupon and you told us you won't accept for us to call groupon customer service for a refund. You suggested us to buy ANOTHER groupon of $30 and that's what we did. We use yelp, trip advisor, groupon and other outlets to try something new every week... Most of them are such great experiences that we become regulars. Your rudeness and cocky attitude won't take you too far! Bye

Started with the Mediterranean Platter as an appetizer (hummus, stuffed grape leaves, and marinated olives) - it was great! For dinner I had the special, which was a lamb and onion kebob with an au gratin potato cake - absolutely delicious. Finally, we were treated to the creme brûlée... If you only get one thing here, GET THE CREME BRÛLÉE! It was the most amazing thing that's ever touched my lips! Authentic French/Moroccan cuisine at its best! To clinch the five star rating was the staff, so fun and friendly, beautiful accents - had a fantastic evening! I highly recommend it!

3.5 STARS. Yes, what you've read is true. The ambience of the place is absolutely captivating. We were planning on sitting outside on the beautiful patio surrounded by nature, but unfortunately we agreed on a table inside as the summer heat and the lack of fans would have not made a pleasant experience. Though, I encourage anyone that visits to check out their area outside as it reminded me of "Secret Garden." Anyhow, as soon as we got comfortable in the AC, we ordered our drinks that were immediately brought to our table. For an appetizer, we had the Bastilla. It was good and different, but I thought it was a bit too sweet for my taste. For dinner, I ordered the Souris D'Agneau Confites Au Porto (Lamb Shank with Risotto) and my husband had the Lasagne De Blanquette De Veau a La Truffles (Veal and Mushrooms Lasagna in Vodka sauce). The Lamb Shank was cooked perfectly and was so tender it fell off the bone, it was very good. However, I am not a big fan of strong flavors and the wine taste is very powerful, so I did not really enjoy the dish as much. On the other hand, my husband's Lasagna was spectacular! The sauce was so delicious I was kicking myself for not ordering it. It was perfectly executed. We concluded our feast with the Souffle De Chocolat Et Nutella (Chocolate Souffle). It was good and very sweet, but I really wasn't blown away by the taste. Concerning the service, the waiter was very sweet, but I noticed he was a bit overwhelmed. He really was the only one manning the whole restaurant. I also noticed that once more people started coming in for dinner, the food started to take longer. We probably waited 15 minutes for our dessert. Overall, it was a beautiful and intimate place for a date night with my husband, but I was not very impressed with the food or blown away by the service. The ambience was enjoyable, yet I'm not dying to come back. PS: If you order water, they will not ask you if you prefer tap or bottled and they will simply add $7 to your check for every bottle of water you consume. PS2: Tip is included in your check.

Went here by mistake... They have an open bar but dinner is by reservation only. The food is very expensive and the service is mediocre. We ordered Fois gras and bone marrow which was severly over cooked. And when we told the waiter he made a snootie face and said, "I will tell the chef." I was like umm i hope so for that price (17.95 for a teaspoon of marrow) it better be cooked right.

Elegant dining date night. That would sum it up. My fiancé had the risotto and said it was great while I had the baby octopus salad and too enjoyed my meal. Went with a Groupon and Tue meal was a sensible price. The place has a spacious outside dining space that you will enjoy.

We ate in the patio, the garden is beautiful. The ambiance is very romantic. My husband had the lamb stew and I had the seared duck. The lamb was tender, but lacked seasoning (i think it had very little or no salt). The duck with reduction was lightly flavored, potatoes seasoned perfectly. The food was good and pretty presentation, but we were not overly impressed with the flavors, especially for the high prices (about $30 per person and we drank water, no appetizer, no dessert).

A party of friends visited Rouge recently, and had a decidedly mixed experience. Once arrived, I was struck by the beautiful, homey decor that resembled more of a 19th century bookshop than restaurant, as well as the pleasant (if a bit loud) music consisting of European flavored standards. However, our order taker -- who as it turns out was also the chef owner -- has a bit rough 'tableside manner'. We were left alone more than long enough to decide both our appetizer and main course. So, when he came to take our order, our party had what we wanted lined-up. However, he was visibly irritated when we each person tried to order their appetizer and main, as he seemingly expected us to only do appetizers. He adjusted, but let's just say you could see he didn't like changing gears. The food itself was fairly good, but had some hiccups. One of our companions had order what, on the menu, was a steak with peppercorn sauce. The filet mignon -- a different cut -- came with a cherry sauce. What he got was a filet mignon with the peppercorn sauce; since it wasn't a matter of taste, he went ahead and took it. However, I have to note it was $10 more than what he ordered. I did order the filet mignon. It was tasty, however I ordered medium rare. As I got further into the meat, it became bloody rare. Fortunately, I actually prefer this (medium rare is a compromise to make it shareable for my wife and less off-putting for companions). However, had I been put off by rare meat, I can see it being an issue. I did very much enjoy the escargot pastis (escargot swimming in sauce and served in a flaky puff pastry), as well as the foie gras (which was the actual, genuine article). The shrimp appetizer wrapped in bacon was okay, but the shrimp itself overcooked and thus powdery. The salad maison was also good -- but a bit salty. Speaking of salty, another of our companions had the bouillabaisse which he didn't care for and was too "fishy and salty". I didn't taste it, so I can't comment on that. However, I can address the reaction of the staff. Our main server -- a very nice woman -- was apologetic. Maybe too apologetic, as she pushed quite hard for him to get an alternative dish (he didn't want one). However, the aforementioned owner did insist on coming out and confronting our companion on why he didn't like it, and defend his food and why it was proper. I do get that when you are a chef, you want to explain your work. But there's a line between defense and defensiveness, and our host definitely crossed it. He did it at the cost of making the guest feel browbeaten and unwelcome. The dessert chocolate soufflé was sold as the genuine, proper version. However, it also took 15 minutes. We were a bit surprised they could make one in that time. Turns out they can't quite, because it was quite a bit denser than a soufflé should be. It's one of those items that few restaurants can make, and thus are wise not to include on the menu. It's not, by far, the worst restaurant I've been to, and has much to recommend it. However, the service experience soured it a bit. And keep in mind, almost none of my reviews cite service as an issue, so this isn't a chronic complaint. So my overall critique is that while the food is ok, it's not good enough to justify the haughty attitude of the owner.

1 check-in Okay, here I go bucking trend again. Sometimes ya just gotta.. Wish there was another 3/4th. star I could give it but yelp doesn't deal in fractions. Rouge, a French Moroccan restaurant on 71 st. originally planned for a brunch late in January, sounded to all like a very good idea for Christmas brunch.. A reservation for 10 was made a couple weeks earlier, knowing how busy places can be on holidays, Three days before Christmas, the person in our party who was communicating with the restaurant, called and said there were seven definite but please keep it for 10. The next day, four more indicated the desire to join us , ( bringing it to 11..one extra, should be no problem, right?) Wrong. She was informed by Nabil, who we found out was the owner, chef, order taker, AND server that seven was all he could possibly accommodate, knowing how busy Rouge would be, and adding ANY extra would be impossible. Oh well, It is what it is When we got there at 2pm on Christmas, we were greeted by the owner......and a totally empty place..except for our party...and it remained that way for almost the entire two hours we were there..even as we left, there were still only two other parties with four adults and two kids total. Whatever crowds were coming , we were told were scheduled for 5pm and later. Point is, we could have easily reserved for 20 people..and had no problem seating.. All I can figure is that Nabil, perhaps having only a couple other people helping him serve at that hour may have thought that the three extra people that would have brought our party up to 11 would have been a burden?? I've nooo idea why the restriction to 7 only. What was good and delicious: A free Yelp check-in serving of champagne! My onion soup. TRES delicious. A taste I had of my friend's Branzino en Papillote was tender and delicious, very nicely cooked. An order of Salmon in Citron was pronounced delicious. My Escargot eu de Pastis, an interesting anisette flavored sauce, though not the garlicky buttery version (which I prefer), was something attractively served and nestling in a puff pastry shell. Sometimes I find I enthusiastically jump OUT of the box just to scurry back in :-)... nteresting rolls ((for which they told us no butter was available), but there WAS olive oil and Nabil DID mix up a little cup of the oil mixed with an olive reduction...Very good. The Hudson River Valley Faux Gras appetizers, very tiny, not even as big as a match cover, but very tasty. What was not so hot: The music, although very nice was too loud and we had to ask three times to have it lowered to the point where we could converse. (Remember, we were the only people there?) The skewered shrimp covered with bacon, appetizers was a fine idea but maybe the time it took to broil the bacon was too much for the pinky finger sized shrimp. They were okay but dried out..,..and at $3.95 each, were a disappointment Bouillabaisse.. should be a delightfully delicate, broth with fish chunks, lobster, shrimp, etc. It was a verrry small potion in a verrry big bowl making it look even smaller , but presentation would not have been a problem if it had not been so strongly fishy and salty.. It was returned and Nabil was gracious in asking what else he could prepare. Another friend was not pleased with her Salad Maison entree but ate it . Another friend ordered a steak . The wrong steak, ( one 10 dollars higher) was served with the wrong topping. He said it looked good and ate it but pronounced it meh. I think, that for the prices Rouge charge, Excellence is not too much to ask.. The restaurant is beautifully decorated warm and cozy looking , with a full bar, fireplace and the open air back yard dining area is truly beautiful and I was looking forward to dining there in January but we' unanimously agreed that a future visit was not in the cards.

This is for sure a hidden gem in Normandy! How we did not know about it before?!!! This is one of the cutest, most romantic and cozy places I have eaten at here in Miami. Please make a reservation so you get a table at their magical terrace/garden and make sure you go at night. Beautiful vines with grape bunches hanging, flowers and tea lights everywhere, this place makes the experience of eating here a true escape from the craziness of the city. The staff is A+ couldn't be happier with service (they apply an approximate 18% tip to your check but so worth it!) The food, OMG, Delicious! Love the Moroccan/French combination menu! Big Fan! Here my detailed review, What we had: Appetizers: - Pastry Escargots (amazing) - Bacon wrapped dates ( oh my goodness ) - Moroccan style marinated olives (yum) - Foie Gras (delicious and loved the citrus take) Entrees: - Steak and Fries (very nice, perfectly cooked and delicious real fries) - Carre D' Agnès (amazing, delicious flavor and nice size) - Moroccan Lamb leg (loved the flavour and texture, it was falling of the bone. The spice level was nice, I like it spicier but for a regular customer it is perfect and not overwhelming) had it with a nicely cooked cous cous. - Boullabaise (beautiful, tasty and very well spiced) only had trouble with the size of the plate it was presented in Dessert: - Tarte Tatin (delicious but simple and not typical recipe of the Tatin) - Chocolate Soufflé (real French style soufflé with a molten center and they pour some kind of berry sauce on top as they serve it plus cream) beautiful! The only reason I'm giving this AWEOME place 4 stars instead of 5 is because these 3 things: - The Boullabaise is served in a plate that looks very cool but it is HUGE and not comfortable to eat this delicious dish in. - The Tarte Tatin (as the waiter called it) was just a circle of dough with a cooked apple sliced on top, delicious but not a Tarte Tatin - The chocolate soufflé (which is a real French soufflé) was a bit over cooked but again delicious. Overall an amazing experience, we are excited that we discovered this place and are looking forward to go back soon!

I'd been wanting to visit Rouge for some time, finally got around to it a few days ago & was so glad I did! I have been raving about it since & several of my friends have followed my advise & all were equally impressed. I tried the Bardés de bacon Dates Medjool Stuffed with Spicy Spanish chorizo, the Braised Lamb Shank in Port Wine served with a Wild Mushroom Risotto & the Pan Seared Crispy Duck Breast and Fingerling Potato Served with a Raspberry Sauce. OMG! The desserts were amazing, too! My taste buds were in heaven! I will definitely be back! :-)

My experience here was a 2.5. Service could have been better, especially for a pricey meal. The inside of the restaurant is nice and intimate. I had hoped to dine outside on their patio but weather did not permit. This place serves wines, beer and soda only, so if you prefer ice tea or sweet fruity cocktails like me you will be disappointed. They do offer dessert wines. Between the bacon wrapped dates and the bacon wrapped shrimp, I preferred the dates more but my husband like the shrimp more. Here's a quick run down of what we thought about the food we tried tonight on a scale from 1 to 5 (5 being excellent): Bacon Wrapped Dates: 5 Bacon Wrapped Shrimp: 4 (5 according to my husband) Black Truffle Risotto: 3.5 Rabbit: 3 Lamb Shank: 1 (sad to say I did not like the flavor at all & it lacked salt)

What a beautiful place ! First impressions make a difference and rouge definitely aims to please. The place is small and dim, making a perfect environment for an intimate dinner date or small party. So now, the food! We order the cheese soufflé that was absolutely to die for. Trust me, you will not want to share. The grouper and lobster bisque is not very creamy and tastes more of fish than anything. It is delicious, but don't a traditional bisque. The lamb tajine was Devine. And the filet mignon was delicious, unfortunately, there was no truffle in the mash as advertised. The chocolate soufflé with Nutella was rich and tasty, however, the taste of Nutella wasn't present either. The service was good. The staff was attentive. This place is very pricey and not exactly budget friendly. But is worth the money for a special occasion.

LOVE! Don't be fooled by the exterior - Rouge is the most romantic restaurant in North Beach and maybe even all of Miami. I absolutely love what I call the "Secret Garden" - this back patio area and garden is so beautiful. I absolutely love their wines. Our favorites food items on the menu are the French Onion Soup, the bacon-wrapped shrimp and dates and the salmon.

The owner of this establishment is a pompous, arrogant ass. He recommended an $89 bottle of Bordeaux that tasted like a $2 trader joe wine special. And then he was offended when we didn't care for it although we stayed with the bottle, paid for it and were charged a 20% gratuity on top of it. We asked him how certain dishes were prepared and he was condescending and thought he was cute. We were a party of 5 and he brought my friend the wrong dish, argued that he was correct about it and then charged us for both dishes! He had to correct the final bill 3 different times. I did not appreciate being charged a mandatory 20% service charge when the service was horrible. I do not recommend this restaurant at all! Aside from the terrible service it was so hot! The AC does not work well in the building and everyone was sweating while eating. The ONLY lovely thing about the restaurant was the live music. I will never come back.

Went again for a date. Do it. Use the patio in the back. Get a bottle of wine and tell Nabil you're coming.

Beautiful place, very romantic. Well cooked food just a bit under seasoned, very polite and helpful staff. Limited selection of desserts

Morrocan dish which was the couscous royale was mistakenly served without a crucial sauce making the dish quite bland. It was graciously substituted for the lamb tagine and we were comped a small dessert but when the bill came we were charged for the more expensive special dish which was $40!!! Ouch Lamb tagine had good flavor but seemed an incomplete dish without any side items Update: host contacted me and apologized for error in bill and offered to refund the difference in charge. He has really gone the extra mile

Had a lovely dinner here last weekend. Rouge is a hidden gem in Miami Beach. It is a French-Moroccan restaurant located on 71st. There is street parking up front and behind the restaurant. I almost don't want to post about it to keep it just for me! We arrived very early on a Saturday night and were the second party to arrive. After seeing the photos of their outside area, I had high hopes of sitting there. Ultimately, we chose not to because it was too muggy and we feared rain: typical Miami weather! We were welcomed by the owner and his wife, and sat inside immediately. While the outside is gorgeous (boungainvilleas, banana fronds, bricked walls, urn planters, wrought iron furniture, string patio lights, hand painted furniture, tiles, and Moroccan lanterns set the mood for a sexy secluded night), the inside decor is not too far behind. Both are quite charming! Wood textures, various shades of red and dimmed lighting everywhere you look. We took a look at the menu to decide on our dinner. The first thing I noticed is that it looked very limited: a fact only highlighted by the long, odd size of the menu. There is a large block of white empty space at the bottom of the menu. You feel like there is something missing. The menu flip side lists the wine selection (and it does take up the entire length) and it's perhaps why the page is so long. It might look better to print them separately: just a thought. Ultimately, I don't care about limited menu items if the choices on it are good and THEY WERE GREAT! We started with the CREAMY PUMPKIN BISQUE. It's a good thing they served hot bread with it because we used it to clean out the bowl. Yup, we loved it that much. We also had an order of the BACON WRAPPED MEDJOOL DATES (stuffed with spicy chorizo). These are priced individually (we ordered 4) and were delicious. I am not sure, but it seemed like they cook them on the grill. They had a nice smokey char to it that I absolutely loved! I could have easily had a couple more of those. For our main courses, we shared the BLACK TRUFFLE RISOTTO and the HARIRA. The risotto was perfectly creamy and al dente at the same time. It was topped with a wonderful parmesan crisp. The Harira is a traditional Moroccan lamb stew IN a tomato broth. (It's listed as "AND tomato soup" which is confusing. It sounds like it comes with a side of soup, instead of being served IN a soup). This was hearty and I felt like I was eating in someone's home versus a high volume restaurant. The spices were dead on and I found myself lost in it's complexity. Really. There was not much left when we were done. Desserts were disappointing only because I wanted the authenticity to continue, something more regional and not easily found all over the city perhaps? We had a chocolate mousse (listed as PARFAIT DE MOUSSE AU CHOCOLAT) and a creme brûlée (listed as CREME BRULEE A LA VANILLE). They were both good though and a nice "sweet" ways to end dinner. We also each had an espresso. The corkage fee was $20. We brought our wine so that was perfect for us. Rouge is different than everything in that area, and even just Miami Beach in general. You can tell a lot of love has gone into the restaurant. It's bigger than it looks online, but still quaint. I loved the French playlist they had on all night long and the silent Charlie Chaplin movies playing on the back wall. It got fuller as the night progressed. Although it still wasn't completely full by the time we left, we noticed that everyone that came in was a regular! We spoke to the owner here and there for a little bit and he was very nice. We look forward to returning and trying everything on that menu. We've only just begun! Next time, we are sitting outside for sure!

I've been wanting to come to this place for a long time. Me and my boyfriend finally made reservations for our anniversary. From the outside it looks like a typical old building. Once you go in, you are transported to Europe. Originally we wanted to sit in the amazing rustic garden they have on the back but it was too hot outside, so we ate inside. The decoration inside was like being in a homey rustic library. There is an old piano with a side table with an old checkers board game. The brick wall behind it has a wine rack from the ground up. The lights are dimmed and the ambience. Is very romantic. The music was an old jazz. What really gave it a unique touch for me was the old Popeye cartoons playing on the back wall by the projector they have installed. The service was very well and attentive. I think our server was the owner himself. A very charming man with a good sense of humor. Bread and olive oil was quickly brought to the table, along with water. As an appetizer he recommended the gorgonzola soufflé- it was divine. For dinner, I had the lamb shank in port wine and mushroom risotto. The lamb was falling off the bone and perfectly cooked. My boyfriend had the braised duck and a apricot with a side couscous. Sweet and salty and full of flavor. Our wine of choice was Les Jamelles Cabernet Sauvignon. Very smooth and aromatic. Sadly, we were too full for dessert, I really wanted to try their Nutella soufflé. Perfect excuse to go back. The restaurant is a little pricy, but considering the ingredients they use and the portions they have, it's understandable and worth it!

This place was horrible!!!!! The lamb shank and risotto was white rice with chicken or beef stock and mushrooms and it was sandy like if they didn't clean the mushrooms. Service was horrible. If they didn't add the auto gratuity I wouldn't have left a tip. Explains why we were the only table there. No lie, the only table!

Meh. The food was okay. Out of all the food my party ordered, I only liked 2 items on the menu which were the risotto and onion soup. The waiter took a while to come around to attend to us and even forgot to put in one of our orders. Aside from that, what discouraged me the most was when we got our check and noticed we were charged for water. The waiter didn't give us an option between tap water or bottled water, so we just thought water was free. Keep in mind that none of the 11 girls heard our waiter mention the choice between tap and whatever they charged us for. Also, since we checked in on yelp with a party of 6 or more, we got a free bottle of champagne. With a party of 11, we knew 1 champagne bottle wouldn't be a lot to split between all of us. A person in my party did not get a glass to split, so when she asked for a glass, she meant one that would be split from our bottle. Without trying to clarify, he automatically took out another bottle and charged us $15 for it. The whole time my party thought it was only 1 bottle that he poured. I really think this place is shady and not honest. If you choose to dine here make sure you are very clear with what you order and what they serve you before you have hidden charges! :)

When we entered the restaurant we were impressed by the set up and the music which were both excellent. The patio was beautiful and it had a real feeling of the European style. The service was also very good as well. We were 8 parties and, when the food came in, nobody liked their plates...most were extremely salty, or no flavor, or milky pasta sauce, etc etc. the only things that we liked was the bread, the olives and the fruit wrapped in bacon (don't remember the name of the plates). The plates were beautifully decorated though. The prices are extremely high for what we got and they even charged for "extra bread" that we asked for before the food arrived.

So went here for valentine's. First they cancelled my reservation without calling I found out bc OpenTable sent me an email. I called back and they requested $100 deposit. When we get there it was a fixed price and fixed meal menu which I was not aware $90 per person. Plates start to come in which were pretty good but then it halted. I waited 1 hour from appetizer to main course and then 30 min from main course 1 to main course 2. Both of the main courses were average at best. Dessert above average. Anyways for the $250 I paid and the inconvenience of having to rebook my overall experience was not good.

Not sure what the hype is all about. This place is over rated, over priced and under portioned. The "filet mingnon" is about 4 ounces and sirloin cut for $35!! French onion soup is bland. The potatoes are bland. We had to send the steaks back as they were not cooked as ordered. The bacon wrapped shrimp and dates were very small and unappetizing. For the price - go to a real restaurant.

Really special meal. Have eaten all over Miami and SoBe, and this was unique and a very welcome "get away." Step into Europe and enjoy the experience. Food was beautifully prepared, owner Nabil cares about everyone's experience, and truly knows his craft. Don't be in a hurry, and come hungry... You'll want the total experience (incl dessert wine). Just gorgeous. Hidden gem, make the trip.

Had a Wonderful dinner and evening at this ultra cool French/Moroccan Café. Everything we tried from the Delicious Crab Cake to the Fresh Salad and Flavorful Skirt Steak was truly all delicious. Cooked to Perfection. Elena and the terrific chef Nabil were very friendly and made our evening very pleasant. Great atmosphere inside and a Really lovely European patio outside. I look forward to trying some Moroccan dishes next visit! Well worth it! Go!

This place is outstanding! Both their food and service are superb. The ambiance, both inside and outside is perfect for a romantic outing. My wife and I went on a chilly (for Miami) night and decided to sit outside where the mood was perfect and they even had a fire crackling! We had all their bacon dishes as appetizers (bacon wrapped dates and bacon wrapped shrimp). They were succulent, nice char on the bacon, but the filling stayed nice and moist. As the main course we had the beef and mushrooms over lasagna pasta and the lamb shank with polenta. Both dished were amazing; cooked to perfection and the perfect portion. I would like congratulate Nabil for his amazing place. We will definitely be coming back.

I celebrated my birthday there with a group of my girlfriends & had an absolutely meal plus the service was excellent!! The dishes were unique & so delicious. I had the lasagna which is not your Italian grandmas recipe at all. This is a wonderful meat dish with a rich flavor but not too heavy. Cannot wait to go back soon!! Thanks Rouge!!

Our group just came back from dining at Rouge. What a great meal and fun time. The owner has a lot of confidence in the quality of his food because everything was prepared perfectly. Nothing was below exceptional. That is very rare. I wish that we could have dined in the garden. Next time. This is a special restaurant.

Dinner with my daughter. Bottle of wine with apps of foie gras and bacon dates. Main was a beautiful citrus salmon. Very good. We'll go back. It was raining but they have a wonderful garden seating area outside. We want to sit out there next time.

Like it - service is a step above most other places in this town we sat outside where it it was not easy for waiting staff to see us yet they managed to be there whenever there were needed without being overly intruding. We had two starters both were good, my friend had the fish, I had the special with the Veal Bollognese. both entrees were good and we enjoyed it, though for the location and and general product the pricing is high, did not see any wines on menue for under 40 $ and most main course items were over 25 $ with this pricing I am not sure they will survive as it is a bit out of tune with area - the location has seen several french bistro's such as the previous lemon twist all have been relatively good places but aspiring to a level of pricing not in step with the area ... so this is really the only reason for them not to get the 5th star

This is what I call... A HIDDEN GEM!! Absolutely the best food in Miami. This place is my new obsession. The French Onion soup was perfect. The filet mignon is one of my favorite dishes here, but really everything I've tried is exquisite!!! The outdoor terrace, with its décor is simply majestic. Great location for intimate dining or group dinners. By the way, the Moroccan tea is truly authentic!! You will not be disappointed! Cheers!

Our friends have been raving about this French Moroccan restaurant , and we decided to try it. The space is beautifully decorated and inviting with classic films screened on one of the walls. Perfect place for a romantic date. Service was attentive and polite. Our problem was the food- we ordered the chateaubriand -which when prepared properly, is one the most flavorful and tender cuts of meat, rivaling a filet mignon.... Unfortunately, ours was not well prepared- it was tough and the reduced sauce lacked butter, tarragon ..something? Disappointing meal for the price. We'll try it again, but not a good first impression. I'm updating this review and improving the rating based on the owner's response which shows he really cares about his customers experience. We will definitely give Rouge another try.

This evening we had an absolutely wonderful diner here. The restaurant was almost empty butt the ambiance remained warm and cozy. The owners are charming and informative. We had the escargot - melt in your mouth and much different than the usual buttery sauce. My husband had the Harira soup and I the pomme frites. Both were superb. The creme brûlée topped the meal. Next time we will pick better weather and sit in the lovely garden in the rear of this gem of a restaurant

Living in Miami Beach my whole life, many "good" restaurants surround us. None however truly "get it" at all. Having an authentic, all-round exquisite dining experience (from start to finish) may only happen to you a hand full of times in your life... if you're lucky that is. Enter a setting that makes you feel like you've just arrived at your new villa, thousands of miles away. You are greeted as a friend of the past and graciously seated. Experience the most romantic outdoor setting you can find in our city. The food is impressively perfect from temperature to balance of flavor. Not one dish was off. Best Branzino of all time without a doubt. Wow factor was consistent with every course. Restaurateurs should be lucky enough to learn from Rouge. Casual elegance is embodied throughout. A perfect example of the positive impact that an owner with genuine passion has on his establishment.

The food, people, and service, are great. I am usually a food snob and I'll say those who do not appreciate the food here deserve to have their mouths sewn shut and to be constantly harrassed by bees for their remaining days. I eat here whenever I am in Miami. I love the owner and his wife they are great people who can cook even better food.

Nothing to call home about. Everything is overpriced and yes I did perceive some arrogance from the owner. Not a friendly place. They even added 18% tip to the bill as if they thought we were clueless tourists or something. Well sorry if I speak French I am a native speaker. I usually tip 20% but, needless to say I did not add 2% on this one!

I took my clients there. And the whole experience was great. The owner/server of our table had a great sense of humor and a lot of body language with my client since he did not speak English. The food was good and the place was very lovely. The appetizer grilled dates was amazing. I cannot wait to go back with my friends.

I went in on a Saturday night and discovered it wasn't so busy. Great ambiance inside and on the outside back patio. Very cool stuff going on all around! The wine/food came out (I ordered the skirt steak) and it was good. Not fantastic, not bad...just very 3-star. The two female servers were very pleasant but they would literally disappear for 10-15 minutes at a time. It took 20 minutes for us to receive the check, well after we were all finished eating and there were only two other tables in the restaurant. The bill wasn't bad for the three of us ($125 or so with a bottle of average wine)....pretty decent for the beach. Rouge can EASILY be one of the greatest finds on Miami Beach but only if the owner tweaks the menu, up's the food quality a little, offers a broader wine selection (it's beer and wine only), offers better/more choices of appetizers and gets more floor help. I may go back in 4-6 months to see if changes have been made. Rouge is definitely worth another try, I'd say.

My family and I spent fours hours of a recent Saturday afternoon at Rouge and can't wait to return. The food was solid, hearty North African/French - a couple of standouts were the Boquerones (not overly salted, as is often the case with this dish) and Harira soup (multiple spices, well-harmonized). Proprietor Nabil did everything possible to make us feel welcome, and we came away feeling like we had spent an afternoon with an old friend. Coming from South Beach, it was unbelievably refreshing to be at a place with no pretension, no B.S., no "scene," but just really solid food and service. The garden is amazing.

Stellar find off the beaten path! The patio is a MUST DO.....you will be transported to the most adorable courtyard dining area with gorgeous ambiance. It was too cold for us to eat out there the night we went but I will certainly go back next time I'm in Miami. The owner deserves to be recognized for his dedication to the food/ambiance/overall experience. It's clear that he has worked hard to provide a special experience and I highly recommend that locals and travelers pay this spot a visit! The sea bass with all the moroccan spices in parchment paper was to die for. Lamb was very tender and flavorful, all the desserts were lovely. Other women in my party said the risotto was the best meal they have EVER had! The service was attentive and friendly. One of the best things I love about this restaurant (aside from the food) is it's CASUAL. You don't have to worry about keeping up with the South Beach scene. Come as you are, or get dressed up! Either way, just GO!

Blah, Blah, Bland! The entrees are not spicy or full of flavor. I ordered the hen with carrots and it was tasteless. The server returned the dish and I order steak au poivre which was ok. The french fries were presented well but undercooked and soggy. My table also order the beef stew special over pasta and its was bland. The quality for price was not there! I would recommend this restaurant for a drink in the backyard garden area. The flowers and the warm fireplace are beautiful. I was really disappointed with the food at this restuarant. I purchased a groupon because it was a local restuarant and French. The service was okay and the owner nice. The main entrees were just so so. In my heart I really wanted this restuarant to be fantastic. It has so many wonderful things to offer .. . a great location, beautiful dining patio area, nice french music, good French wines, nice service. It is just missing top quality entrees. Perhaps a simple menu . . . assorted french cheeses, pates, french wines, champagnes, assorted sandwiches on baquets, salads, soups, quiches, meat pies would work. Also it was unusual when the server told us the groupon was npt valid and sorry they had no agreement with Groupon. Not what I expected. High bill for a so so meal. There is a new French restaurant opening at the Hilton near 63rd St. in Dec. 2013.

uh?? I think we are definately talking about 2 different restaurants. I found the service lukewarm and the food extremely expensive. No patio, no fireplace, no water nearby I think the owners are having a real difficult time keeping the business afloat. Maybe if they lower their prices by half and improve the menu selection, the restaurant has a chance to survive, otherwise it will go down as the previos French restaurant that was in that same location before. To pay $25 for an average lamb burger with soggy fries is simply ridiculous but the prices of all the entrees were about the same if not more. There are better and more inexpensive options out there.

Recently dined with a girlfriend at Rouge and we had an amazingly great time. We ordered French onion soup, the lamb soup, Branzino baked in parchment paper and piña colada mousse. EVERYTHING from the bread to the dessert was delicious. The owner and his wife were attentive and pleasant. The French onion soup was one of the best we'be had. The lamb soup is filling, the spices and the gamey flavor pair amazingly well with the dates that are served on the side with it. The Branzino was delicately baked and even though it appeared simple it was seasoned just perfect with herbs d Provence. Unfortunately, due to the weather the back was closed but, we took a walk back there and it is gorgeous. The entire setup is relaxing. The prices may be a bit high, but it is worth every penny. We even enjoyed a short chess match!

Oooomg...a real jewel in Miami! Finally a place you can feel 'de l'amour' in your plate and all around... Each bite was 'un vrai delice', the atmosphere 'romantique' and the service 'agreable'. An amazing culinary adventure...I flew straight back to my country, precious! the bouillabaisse & the seabass were savourily delightful and I don't even talk about the creme brulee & the Bavaroise... even the olive bread was crunchy delicious (finally real bread here!). Hommage a la cuisine Francaise My man and myself were on a cloud. What else? Can't wait to go back

Unassuming front of house (it was quiet the night we went), but the open Moroccan inspired patio is just awesome. Makes for an intimate dinner, or nice for a small party. I tried the mussels and my partner the skirt steak, both were very good. The ambiance made it a 4 star evening!

Our Favorite spot for dining. Host is involved to make sure that this is truly a wonderful dining experience. He succeeds. I enjoy being able to eat my dinner and not having a waiter looking over my shoulder wanting to seat a next guest. Each time we have dined at Rouge we walk away delighted and the guests we have taken feel the same. Last night was no different. This is a gem.

Came across this restaurant by chance walking around my neighborhood with 4 work friends after having a 40min wait at a Thai place. Place only had one full table by a family with mom ,pop , two teenagers and grandma. First impression was like "oh oh". Then the waitress/hostess greeted us behind the bar and asked us what we needed. That was strange to us. We felt like "WTF" we need to eat. (We were all frigging hungry). She asked if we wanted to sit inside or outback in the Patio. We decided to sit outside and as we walked out we saw this Beautiful Garden with gorgeous flowers , Moroccan lamps and wall water fountains. Drove us instantly to some French Court Yard. Awww! Table tops were exquisite also. (Also Moroccan themed). We ordered our food and drinks. I had the Special Mushroom Quiche with a glass of a French Merlot. The quiche was cooked to perfection , literally melted in your mouth and the Merlot was nice and smooth. Our "friendly" waitress finally came through and changed her attitude at the end. Maybe because the owner, named Nabil was very hospitable and super friendly with us. He even gave us two desserts on the house which were to "live" for. Needless to say we all decided we will definitely come back. Some said they will ,with family & friends , others on a date night. Oh by the way... $ was reasonable and affordable. Highly recommend it!! Uuff! After this review I better get a free dinner dammit !

Just moved to Miami Beach and was looking to find somewhere to replace our low-key French restaurant from DC. We found it and more. Food at Rouge was fantastic. It is a nice blend of French and Moroccan with great flavors on both sides. We had the chicken liver mousse which was good (4/5), the house salad (4/5 - awesome blend of red peppers and fresh cheese, good dressing too... nice and basic). Steak tartare (5/5 - great portion and recipe) and the lamb tangen (5/5 - i've never had moroccan but i'll be eating it much more). Finally we finished with a creme brulee that was great too (4/5). Wine prices were really good and finished with a couple glasses of port hit the spot. Decor is still being worked on, but the Chaplin movie projected on the wall was a nice touch. When it's finished it'll be great. The owner brought us out to check out the back parking lot that he transformed into a garden and words won't do it justice. When it's finished I can see a lot of late night sitting in between the fountains next to the fireplace relaxing. Service was great. We were the only ones there on a Wednesday night but we chatted with the owner and I'm guessing his wife for most of the night. Food was brought out at a nice pace so that we could unwind a bit. Cost was great too. For what we were eating/drinking I was really happy with the price. It's definitely not a cheap dinner but by no means is it overpriced or really expensive. My only gripe would be that I wish the owner had used the web to show the transformation of the parking lot to the garden by showing pictures throughout the project. Seriously - it's beautiful back there, between fountains, the brick work, fireplace... That will be our number 1 place to bring family and friends from out of town to spend a quiet night out.

Bought a Groupon for this place and I absolutely loved it. I didn't love what I ordered, but not because it was bad, it just isn't my preference of taste. My friend ordered the skirt steak whcih was amazing. The service was good, there was only one girl working so we had to wait a bit for ordering and our check, but since the place is so cozy it's hard to be mad. I would return in a bigger group. Love the ambiance.

Service appallingly uninformed and amateurish. Several items ordered were not available. Manager/Chef/ Owner person dressed in jeans and T shirt. Sooo unprofessional. Onion soup inedible. Escargot advertised with garlic and parsley butter. Poor escargot have never seen garlic. Salad Maison boring. Shrimp on skewer still had tails on even though they were wrapped in bacon. Had to work too hard just to eat them. Over all, food was mediocre. Don't know where the rave reports came from in other reviews. Maybe they changed Chefs. Cute room. Nice, pleasantly priced wine list. Our "server" couldn't even open our bottle of wine. The "boss" had to run over and bail her out. I will not return. Someone gave me a $25.00 gift certificate that I used and I still feel I overpaid for what I got.

The best French food in Miami (sorry George's). Everything has that undefinable difference that says authentic. The lamb brochette appetizer was fabulous; chicken tagine superb. Lamb shank superior. Service always warm and personable. Location on Normandy circle is good. This place deserves lines out the door but it is still a somewhat undiscovered gem.

I was visiting some friends who moved to Miami Beach and I have heard them rave about this place ever since they moved. I just had to check it out! So, four of us set out for dinner and all in all, it was a fantastic evening of great food and wine. We all had different meals, but tasted a bit of everything. First off, I don't normally like lamb, but I tried my friend's lamb tangine and it was mouth watering delicious. I got the scallops which were also cooked perfectly, and it came with a mini potato gratin which was really delicious. I started with the French Onion Soup which is probably the best I've ever had. I also sampled my friend's branzino which was cooked in parchment paper and had a delightful broth. I finished off what she did not eat. The wine was very reasonable and delicious. After all the food we got and the quality, I was very happy with the final price of our bill. I will always visit this place when back in Miami Beach. I did see the back patio which they are still working on, but it's almost complete. It's absolutely breath taking. The owner did all of the work himself and it will be a wonderful addition.

This is one of those places where youll have a Casual Magical Time. Food this good rarely comes with modesty and friendly personalized service. This is an unexpensive Culinary Experience. Thanks.
